Thankful for this morning: Coffee, eyedrops, and loud sound systems.

Besides Starbucks, I’ve found the best way to wake up at this ungawdly hour, and get my voice going is to sernade the interstate on my way in to the studio.

This morning for some reason country was what woke me up. Well, not really … but it woke up my voice enough. Now I am a Damn Yankee, I am not a country music fan, but I do enjoy the occassional country artist. Also being a Damn Yankee I do not have a southern accent, but I can fake it pretty well. At one point in my life I had an offer to do a country music demo … now that would have just been funny in more ways then one.

Anyways, so I got Trisha Yearwood stuck in my head this morning.

“I’m not quite sure what’s going on
But all day through and all night long
I’ve been thinkin’ about you
I’ve been thinkin’ about you

The look in your eyes
When you smile that way
The sound of your voice
Saying my name
I’ve been thinking about you
Just keep thinking about you

This single minded fascination I’ve got
Do you call it love
If you don’t then what
All I know is I don’t know what you’ve done
And this train of though ain’t about to jump
The track that’s in on

In the back of my mind
There’s a secret place
But the whold world knows by the smile on my face
I’ve been thinkin’ about you
Can’t stop thinkin’ about you
